TCA+A Adds New Development Director to Leadership Team

FORT WORTH (January 24, 2022) – Texas Center for Arts + Academics (TCA+A) is adding to its leadership team with the hiring of Lauren Whitson as Director of Development. Whitson will be responsible for fundraising, donor relations, and event planning, including TCA+A’s upcoming Spring Gala: The Greatest Show in Fort Worth.

A graduate of Rhodes College, Whitson’s first position post-graduation was in the nonprofit sector. Since then, she has always found joy and meaning in roles where her talents could serve the community. She’s worked in the nonprofit sector for over fifteen years, most recently as the Director of Operations for Friends of the Katy Trail. From 2016-2020, she proudly served as the Race Director of the “Katy 5K,” a favorite in the Dallas community with around 5,000 participants each year.

Her strong background in stewardship and event planning combined with a wealth of industry knowledge comes to TCA+A at the perfect time as we return to in-person events and make efforts to reengage our volunteers and donors.

TCA+A’s Chief Executive Officer, Paul Gravley said, “Lauren brings the experience, leadership, and passion to help TCA+A reach its potential. I am extremely excited that Lauren is joining the team.”

Whitson, a Fort Worth native, enters her role at TCA+A eager to make a lasting impact in her hometown. She commented, “I am really excited to be part of the team at Texas Center of Arts + Academics and to play a small role in allowing these talented children and young adults to explore their passion for the arts. I hope to grow what is already a treasured organization in the area and bring joy through their art to the greater community.”
