Thursday, July 28, 2022, Fort Worth, TX – Texas Center for Arts + Academics (TCA+A) and the Texas Boys Choir (TBC) are excited to kick off the new school year with some fresh, yet familiar, talent! Dr. Todd Prickett joins the organization at Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) as the new Artistic Director of TBC. Dr. Prickett worked as the Interim Artistic Director of TBC in the spring of 22, conducting daily rehearsals, a Spring Concert, and TBC’s 75th Anniversary Tour in Florida.

Dr. Prickett was selected as the new Artistic Director after a national search. A search committee composed of TBC parents, TBC students, alumni, administration, and outside consultants weighed in on the decision.

CEO & President of TCA+A, Mr. Paul Gravley notes that “Dr. Prickett has the drive, passion, credentials, and experience to take Texas Boys Choir to new heights. We have already seen immense growth in the boys’ passion and choral abilities since Dr. Prickett joined us in the Spring and I am excited to see where he leads this choir.”

Dr. Prickett earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from Michigan State University, Master of Music from Texas Christian University (TCU), and Bachelor of Music in Education from TCU. Some previous roles include Conductor of the Youth Chorale for the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, leading a robust choir of 65 members. There he founded an annual youth choir festival. He also worked as an Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral studies at Indiana University where he was the recipient of the 2009 College of Visual and Performing Arts, Excellence in Teaching Award and worked as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Prickett wants our families and community to know he is incredibly excited to have been named Artistic Director of the Texas Boys Choir! He says “I have always admired the choir’s long tradition of artistic excellence and look forward to joining the dedicated and talented faculty at Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts. I look forward to providing the boys with a top-notch experience and helping shape the next chapter of this amazing legacy.”
