Texas School of the Arts Becoming a Campus of Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts School

District in 2026-2027

As part of an exciting new chapter, Texas School of the Arts (TeSA) will transition to become a

campus within the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) school district. This transition

allows us to expand opportunities for students while preserving the unique artistic culture that

makes TeSA special.

Below are answers to frequently asked questions.

1. What does this transition mean?

Texas School of the Arts will become a campus within the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts

school district. Students currently enrolled at TeSA will become students of Fort Worth

Academy of Fine Arts, while continuing to attend school at the Texas School of the Arts campus

at Village Pkwy.

2. Will the Texas School of the Arts campus close?

No

The Texas School of the Arts campus will remain open and will continue serving students in the

same location. The change is organizational—TeSA will operate as a campus within the Fort

Worth Academy of Fine Arts school district.

3. Will currently enrolled TeSA students have to apply or audition as part of the consolidation of

TeSA into the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts School District?

No

Current enrolled students at TeSA are automatically accepted as students of the Fort Worth

Academy of Fine Arts School District. Currently enrolled TeSA students are grandfathered into

the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts District and will not have to apply or audition as students

for any future grades.

4. Will currently enrolled TeSA students have to complete enrollment documents per the

ASCENDER platform as part of the consolidation of TeSA into the Fort Worth Academy of Fine

Arts District?

Yes

TeSA is currently a separate school district from FWAFA (two separate school districts). Once

the consolidation is complete, TeSA will no longer be a stand-alone school district. TeSA will be

a campus operating within the FWAFA School District. We will become one school district and

not two school districts as we are operating now. The one school district for both campuses will

be Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts School District.

5. Will students still study the arts?

Yes

The arts-focused mission will remain a central part of the campus. Students will continue to

receive instruction and opportunities in their artistic disciplines while also gaining access to

expanded fine arts programs and resources available through Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts.

6. Will TeSA change its campus name?

No

TeSA will continue as a campus, operating in the same format. However, TeSA will no longer

operate as a stand-alone school district. TeSA Campus will consolidate under the Fort Worth

Academy of Fine Arts School District.

7. Will teachers and staff remain the same?

Many current teachers and staff will continue serving students, and we are committed to

maintaining the strong relationships that exist within the TeSA community.

8. Will student records transfer?

Yes

All academic records and grades will transfer seamlessly to Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts

once parents complete the 2026-2027 online registration process in Ascender’s parent portal

beginning in May.

Please note that any student not returning to TeSA for the 2026-2027 school year parents will

receive a hard copy of their student’s records, and the school will transfer their official records

via the state’s student transfer portal (TREx) once the student is registered at their new school.

9. Will the time of school change or the uniforms change?

No

The school times will remain the same for the 2026-2027 school year-K-1st grades 7:45 am-3:15

pm and 2nd

-5th grades-7:45 am-3:30 pm. Students’ uniforms will remain the same with the TeSA

logo.10. Will my student still be able to receive their special services support (SPED, 504, Dyslexia,

LPAC etc…)?

federal and state accommodation plans will still be implemented and followed.
