What grades does TeSA serve?

Texas School of the Arts serves students in grades K–5 with an arts-integrated curriculum combining core academic subjects with daily fine arts instruction.

Is TeSA tuition-free?

Yes. TeSA is a tuition-free public charter school operated by Texas Center for Arts + Academics. There are no tuition fees, registration fees, or application fees for any grade level K-5.

Do kindergarteners need to audition?

Yes. All TeSA applicants complete an age-appropriate audition in their chosen arts area. For younger students, auditions assess enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to participate rather than technical skill or prior training.

Does TeSA offer after-school arts programs?

Yes. TeSA students and students from any school can participate in Fine Arts Conservatories for additional fee-based training after school hours in dance, music, theatre, and visual art.

Can my child transfer to FWAFA after 5th grade?

Yes. TeSA students have a direct educational pathway to Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts (FWAFA) for grades 3-12. TeSA 5th graders receive priority admission consideration for FWAFA and are well-prepared for the transition to middle school. However, all students must complete the FWAFA audition process.
